Alex de Grassi and Andrew York
Collaboration Fuses Guitar Sounds of Nylon and Steel
Performance Dates
Thursday, April 11, 2019 7:30pm at Crowder Hall

"Andrew York's eclectic writing and playing constitute one of the hippest styles in American classical guitar..."

"De Grassi's solo steel-string pieces resemble orchestral overtures more than mere songs. Alex's control and sensitivity are almost as striking as his technical expertise."

Windham Hill artist and Grammy nominee Alex de Grassi joins with Grammy winning classical guitarist, Andrew York, to fuse the sounds and traditions of steel and nylon into a unique duo program. With roots in seemingly different traditions, their mutual passion for exploring all types of music has led these two acclaimed composers/performers to find a common round where steel string and classical guitar interact seamlessly.

Encompassing original compositions, improvisation, and arrangements of standards and pop songs, their concert program presents and astonishingly diverse musical landscape. This dynamic collaboration is a hit!
