“Whatever she sings acquires the fierce, confessional intensity of someone who barely lived to tell the tale.” – The New York Times
Congratulations Bettye LaVette! Winner of ''Best Soul Blues Female Artist 2016'' at The Blues Music Awards in Memphis, Tennessee.
A part of the 1960s Detroit R&B and soul movement, Bettye LaVette has remained a staple and mainstay in the soul/funk/R&B community since cutting her first record at 16. Her 2015 album "Worthy" received a Grammy nomination for Best Blues Album of The Year. Often referred to as a godmother of soul, LaVette’s towering, anthemic vocals are equally suited to the small clubs in which she got her start and the enormous arenas at which she has performed with legends like Paul McCartney and Jon Bon Jovi. Such a list of collaborations is proof alone that LaVette’s sound is as versatile and timeless as they come.
